IntraHealth International Tanzania office is soliciting applications from suitable candidate to fill in the Communications Officer Position for IntraHealth Tohara Plus Project. The position will be based in Dar Es Salaam.

SUMMARY OF ROLE
The Communications Officer has primary responsibility for promoting and enhancing the visibility of Tohara Plus program efforts and achievements internally within IntraHealth International and externally to a wider audience, including donors, government and partners. S/he will work closely with the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation and individual program managers to effectively communicate the work of the Tohara Plus project and raise its profile with external audiences. S/he will report directly to the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation.
Responsibilities Include:
Document project’s success stories, blogs, articles, news briefs, presentations and voices narratives for dissemination throughout IntraHealth, PERFAR/CDC, Government of Tanzania, and other external audiences and stakeholders;
Identify key program areas for documentation and dissemination;
Review and update all programmatic materials for accuracy and adherence to IntraHealth and CDC branding guidelines;
Conduct field visits and attend conferences as requested to document, photograph and/or film activities and achievements;
Support project staff on all technical presentations and reports to ensure polished final products with appropriate USG and project branding.
Provide technical support to program staff to increase visibility of key program events
Serve as a principal liaison with IntraHealth Strategic Communications Department;
Organize and maintain IntraHealth/Tanzania shared drive, and ensure that key documents are uploaded to IntraHealth Staff portal.
Build staff capacity in documentation and communication
Perform any other assigned duties
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Degree in communications, mass media, journalism, social sciences, marketing or other relevant field
At least 3-6 years’ experience supporting donor-funded project knowledge sharing/management and communications activities
Working knowledge of international health and development preferred;
Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication presentation, and interpersonal skills in English;
Ability to conduct rapid stakeholder analysis and design appropriate communication messages based on identified needs
Proven experience developing communication messages
Experience working with a variety of donors and CDC in particular
Computer literacy in Word, Excel, Power Point, and graphic design software
Track record of strong commitment to sharing knowledge, documenting experience and supporting creative initiatives;
Strong meeting planning and management skills, relationship-building and communicating effectively;
Proven team player with strong interpersonal skills;
Self-starter with competence and with minimal supervision to consider priorities, be involved in a variety of activities in a time-sensitive, high-pressure environment, and meet competing deadlines.

Employee must wear business attire;
Minimum noise levels in an office environment;
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines;
Office environment requiring sitting at a desk most of the day, using hands to operate a computer and other office equipment;
Requires lifting of 0-10 lbs occasionally or as needed;
Ability to work an irregular schedule on occasion with the ability to travel frequently and on short notice
