Job Opportunity at The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Logistics Coordinator

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, emergency food security, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.
The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters, NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours’ notice when a crisis occurs.

In mid-April 2016, NRC conducted a pre-assessment mission in the refugee camps in north western Tanzania and the assessment revealed that the humanitarian situation for the refugees requires urgent intervention and NRC therefore decided to establish an operational office in Kibondo town, to respond in Mtendeli and/or Nduta refugee camps. The initial interventions will focus in three sectors; shelter, WASH and education (initially construction of permanent classrooms).

NRC is therefore seeking a Logistics Coordinator for the NRC Office in Kibondo, Tanzania. The Logistics Coordinator reports to the Support Manager.

Job description
-Implement NRC’s systems and procedures at area level
-Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements
-Prepare and submit reports and analysis
-Ensure proper filing of all support documents
-Support line managers in procedures and require support team trainings
-Management of logistics team
-Provide anti-corruption, transparency and cost efficiency focus in all processes (e.g. in procurement, vehicle management, asset management)
-Ensure safe and efficient transport of staff and materials/goods
-Ensure that reports are prepared and submitted as required by NRC and donors regulations.
-Recruit and train logistics staff and line managers and staff with logistical responsibilities
Identification of logistics needs and establishment of logistics structures, functions and systems in new field locations if/when required.
-Identification and obtaining of all resources (including personnel) required to ensure smooth functioning of field logistics operations.

Qualifications
-Minimum 4 years’ experience from working as a Logistics Coordinator in a humanitarian/recovery context
-university degree, or other relevant educational background combined with professional experience.
-Proven knowledge of national laws on taxation and VAT, etc.
-Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
-High-level competency in computer skills (Microsoft Office applications)
-Fluency in English and Kiswahili, both written and verbal
-Fluency in one or more of the local languages is an advantage

We offer
Duty station: Kibondo, or another location in North Western Tanzania, where NRC supports the refugee response
Commencement: As soon as possible
Contract period: 4 months (with possibility of extension)
Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions. The candidate will observe NRC’s code of conduct and working hours for the NRC Tanzania
