VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT FOR PUBLIC PARASTATAL SERVANTS
The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) operates through its temporary headquarters in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam and its 28 regional centres in each region of Tanzania Mainland and two coordination centres in Zanzibar and Pemba Islands. The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) hereby invites applications from competent and suitably qualified Civil Servants to be considered for immediate employment to fill the following vacant post.

KEY:
FBM – Faculty of Business Management
FASS- Faculty or Arts and Social Sciences

The qualifications and duties for each of the positions above are described below:
A. LECTURER (PUTS 3.3)
Qualifications:
Possession of PhD, Master degree in relevant fields with at least a GPA of 4.0 out of 5, and a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 or its equivalent in the first degree with minimum score of B+ in relevant subjects or its equivalent. He/she must be computer literate, being capable of using ICT to enhance teaching and learning.
Duties:
As for Assistant Lecturer/Research Fellow with added responsibilities, he/she will be required:
– To teach in face to face sessions and lead seminars;
– To undertake an induction course in pedagogic skills for those who had none before
– To undertake individual research and participate in bigger multi-disciplinary research projects;
– To prepare manuals and case studies for training;
– To offer close supervision and guidance to undergraduate and postgraduate students;
– To manage undergraduate programmes
– To undertake consultancy projects.
NB. Age limit: Not above 45 years.
B. ASSISTANT LECTURER (PUTS 2)
Qualifications:
Possession of a good Master’s Degree (B+ or above GPA 3.8 – 3.6) in a relevant discipline or equivalent after having attained a GPA of 3.8 and above at undergraduate level. He/she must be computer literate, being capable of using ICT to enhance teaching and learning.
Duties:
As for Tutorial Assistant plus:
– Writing new study materials, scripts for radio broadcast, video and audio cassettes, various reports and papers,
– Adopting and/or supplementing existing materials,
– Liaising with course writers, editors, reviewers, producers, artists, coordinators and other members of the course team,
– From time revising course materials and audio programmes,
– Giving public lecture, tutoring and leading academic discussions,
– Setting and marking course assignments and/or tests, examinations supervision offield work, practical and all other related academic activities,
– Encouraging and motivating students to improve themselves academically,
– Helping to identify and set up local study groups,
– Conducting research work and disseminating research findings.
NB. Age limit: Not above 35 years.
C. TUTORIAL ASSISTANT (PUTS 1.1-1.3)
Qualifications:
Possession of a good First Degree (B+ or above GPA 3.8 – 3.6) in a relevant discipline or equivalent after having attained a GPA of 3.8 and above at undergraduate level.
Duties:
– Writing scripts for radio broadcasts, video and audio cassettes, various reports and papers,
– Supplementing existing study materials,
– Editing, reviewing and translating course materials,
– Assisting senior staff in preparing content for e-Learning for the ELMS.
– Providing support materials, guidance and counseling and other services to students,
– Helping to keep students’ records correspondence and other communications,
– Helping in general academic administration as will be asked of him by seniors,
– Doing any other task as may be prescribed by one’s reporting officer, Dean of the Faculty or
Director of an Institute and/or the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) from time to time.
NB. Age limit: Not above 35 years.
D. LABORATORY SCIENTIST
Possession of a First Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Life/Medical/Physical Sciences or related field from a recognized institution. Must be computer literate
Duties
-Maintains glassware by picking-up, cleaning, washing, sterilizing, and distributing.
-Provides glassware by ordering, receiving, and inventorying glassware.
-Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt.
-Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
-Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
-Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data as well as selecting corrective measures.
-Performs any other related duties as assigned the supervisor.
E. ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGIST (PUSS 2.1)
Possession of Diploma in Computer Science/ Engineering/Technology/ Special Education or any other relevant field from a recognized institution
Duties
-Assists in all technical duties requiring a higher degree of planning and designing competence in the areas of students practical and projects.
-Assists in research and development activities.
-Assists in maintenance of special needs ICT facilities.
-Assists in organizing student practical.
-Performs any other related duties as be assigned by the supervisor.
MODE OF APPLICATION
