Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is inviting applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to be considered for employment to fill vacant positions at the MUHAS Genetics Laboratory (MGL), Biochemistry Department.-
The positions are listed below:
1. Health Laboratory Technologist II (3 positions)
(a) Required Qualification Holder of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences (DMLS), from a recognized institution, and registered by the Medical Laboratory Practitioners Council. Experience of working in a genetic Laboratory and use of Real Time PCR and Robotic DNA extraction machine
(b) Duties and Responsibilities i. Receiving, extracting and recording for laboratory examinations ii. Preparing laboratory equipments and chemicals for laboratory tests examinations iii. Inspecting and storing laboratory reagents, equipment and chemicals used in the laboratory tests and examinations iv. Keeping and maintaining laboratory records v. Maintaining laboratory equipment in the laboratory and documenting all maintenance and repairs vi. Carryout laboratory tests and examinations including: biochemical, serological, parasitological, immunological, hematological, genetic and recording results under supervision of a senior laboratory technologist and recording results vii. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor

Assist in inspecting and storing laboratory reagents, equipment and chemicals used in the laboratory tests and examinations iv. Assist in keeping and maintaining laboratory records v. Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment in the laboratory and documenting all maintenance and repairs vi. Carryout laboratory tests and examinations including; phlebotomy, biochemical, serological, immunological, hematological and recording results under supervision of a senior laboratory technologist vii. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor
3. Personal Secretary (1 position)

ii. Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili languages
iii. Computer literacy
iv. Disciplined, credible, industrious, interactive, integrative and self-driven personality.
v. Certificate in Computer programs e.g. Microsoft Office package, Microsoft Office Internet, e-mail and Publisher vi. Experience of working in Clinical laboratory and Genetic laboratory

i. To type and handle various documents for the ii. To ensure files, correspondence and mails coming in and out of the laboratory are in order. iii. To keep a record of movements of files, correspondence and mails in the laboratory iv. To handle confidential and important documents at the genetic laboratory v. To file and index all in-coming and out-going correspondence and mails in the office. vi. To ensure office, office equipments and machines in his/her custody are well maintained. vii. To act as personal assistant to the Laboratory director. viii. Receive visitors and direct them accordingly. ix. Submit official directives to the relevant officers. x. Arrange and organize meetings. xi. Prepare list of office requirements and submit the same to the proper officer. xii. To carry out any other related duties as may be assigned by the superiors.
4. Office Attendant ( 1 position)

i. Clean office and MGL environment,
ii. Maintain MGL gardens, watering plants, trimming grass and shrubs,
iii. Garbage collection in laboratory,
iv. Move files, letters and messages from offices, Sending and collecting mail from the post office
v. Assist the secretary in photocopying documents and serving soft drinks to visitors and officials in meetings, Loading and unloading office equipment from place to place,
vi. Keeping office equipments and reporting for any damage to seniors, vii. Opening window and doors in the morning and closing them after official hours, viii. Preparing and serving tea for officers during official hours, Performing any other duties related to his/her work as assigned by his/her superi
