Sweden has a scholarship programme called Swedish Institute Study Scholarships for Master’s degree that you can apply now because the application is already ongoing. If you have a wish list to study in the country, you must read the entire article in order to know how to apply it below.
Descriptions
First thing first, you must know the closing date of the Swedish Institute Study Scholarships for Master degree. The candidates won’t be considered as successful applicants if they send the applications after January 15th or February 9th, 2018. The scholars must be ready to have the study in August 2018 or in Autumn semester. It allows all applicants all over the world who want to pursue their master’s level studies in Sweden. The host institution is Swedish Higher Education Institutions and other Swedish universities that are registered to the institutions. For your information there are about 180 scholarships that you can achieve by competing with other candidates. There are four categories of eligible countries of the applicants as follow:
- Category 1: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina-Faso, Cambodia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Myanmar (Burma), Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
- Category 2: Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Iran and Vietnam
- Category 3: Candidates with citizenships from countries on the DAC list of ODA recipients other than the above mentioned and those countries included in other SI scholarship programmes
- The last category is a special initiative from South Africa.
You may wonder about the values of the Swedish Institute Study Scholarships for Master’s degree. We have collected them all here as follow:

- There are no additional grants for family members.
For your information, the scholarship programme can be taken for a full-time one year programme or two-year programme. It is only for the scholars who start their master’s degree in the autumn semester. You can extend the scholarship awards for over two semesters or more, but it depends on your credits or courses.
Eligibility Criteria
Some criteria must be completed by applicants if they want to win the awards of Swedish Institute Study Scholarships for Master’s degree. They are as follow:
- Applicants must be from an eligible country and have at least 3,000 hours of experience from full-time/part-time employment, voluntary work, paid/unpaid internship, and/or position of trust. You must have demonstrated leadership experience from employment, voluntary work, and/or internship after high school studies.
- You must be required to pay tuition fees to the universities, have followed the steps of university admission, and will be admitted to one of the eligible master’s programmes by 6 April 2018.
How to Apply
First of all, you must submit one of four master’s programmes that you can find on the official website of the host institutions. It must be no later than 15 January 2018.
