ROLE PURPOSE:
The Child Protection and Child Rights Governance Programme Assistant is accountable for providing support to implement and scale up quality of Child Protection and Child Rights Governance (CP and CRG) programme by supporting the Project Coordinator in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam region.S/he is responsible for implementing daily tasks that ensure the project meets all Save the Children's related policies and procedures. S/he serves as a technical support to community representatives and partners for implementation of CP and CRG interventions, monthly plans and updates and participating on advocacy campaigns and programme reviews. S/he will participate in monitoring and data collection; coordinating capacity building training; mainstreaming children's safeguarding; promoting children's participation; developing community mobilization and sustainability plans.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: CP and CRG Coordinator and dotted lines to the Child Protection Specialist
Dimensions: Maintains strong linkages with Senior Programme Manager, Technical Specialists for Child Protection, Child Rights Governance and Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Accountability (MEAL)
Staff directly reporting to this post: None
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
1. Programmatic/partnership responsibilities:
Assist in program planning and implementation of work plans;
Conduct regular field visits to monitor interventions, and ensure new innovations for children's participation through existing children organizations i.e Tuseme clubs and junior councils;
Support to coordinate and conduct capacity building activities for partners and stakeholders;
Support team in facilitation of internal coordination with other programs to ensure good synergy with other Save the Children initiatives in the field;
Supported or in collaboration with the CP and CRG Coordinator, ensure that planned activities and related expenditures are in strict compliance with the agreed budget lines and Save the Children financial regulations.
Adhere to and support in rolling out SCI Child safeguarding policy to the communities & partners.
2. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning / Research
In collaboration with the MEAL team ensure implementation of a strong MEAL system for the CP programme in location (MEAL plans, indicators, performance tracking tables, monitoring tools, benchmarks etc.)
Support monitoring interventions with partners and community and children's organizations;
Assist the partners' staff with the collection of high quality data for MEAL;
Any other tasks requested by the line manager.
4. Save the Children representation
Regularly support to coordinate and collaborate with other SC sector teams in location to strengthen programming and impact for children.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree/Diploma in Social Sciences, Bachelor of Science and Social Protection,
- Experience in project planning and implementation
- Experience in working with partners and government agencies
- Experience in working with children will be added advantage
- Additional skills in programme implementation, monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability will be an added advantage
- Good communication and writing skills in English.
